What this is — and is not

Let us be precise, because the word “custom” has been worn thin. A Pièce Unique is not a catalogue case with a stock movement and a different face. It is watchmaking from raw material: your watch designed from zero, then machined, finished and brought to life in one workshop — made the hard way, like everything that carries our name.

The deepest purpose of this house is to maximize the sentimental value an object holds for its owner — and nothing serves that purpose more completely than a watch that is exactly what its wearer wants it to be. That is why we make pièces uniques. The Octagon is the watch Julli always wanted to exist. Yours may be something else entirely — a different case, a different dial. And we consider it the greatest honour this work can offer: that someone would trust their dream to these hands.

An invitation, when we begin

A Pièce Unique starts as a picture in your head — and pictures in heads are hard to hand over. So we built somewhere to put it.

Commission one and you are invited into a page of your own: our dream visualizer, opened for one commission at a time: the watch, and every decision that makes it yours. The shape and how much room it takes on the wrist. The metal. The face you will look at every day. The hands. What it should be able to do. How the movement is dressed. What it wears, and the words you want kept. You choose, and the watch changes in front of you — and what you draw actually runs: the hands keep real time while you make up your mind.

Take as long as you like. Save the link, send it to the person whose eye you trust, sleep on it, come back and change everything. Where a word says it better than a choice, write it instead — it all reaches Julli. And when it finally looks like the watch you meant, you send it. That drawing is where the real conversation starts, and it beats any brief either of us could write.

The visualizer is not public and cannot be bought. It opens with your commission, and once the build begins it becomes the place you follow the work — one room, one owner, one watch.

How a pièce unique is born

1. The dream

   A sentence is enough to open the door — a shape, a story, a feeling. The visualizer above is where it stops being only in your head.

2. The design

   We design it together, in conversation and drawings, until the watch on paper is the one you meant.

3. The agreement

   Scope, schedule and price are fixed before anything is built — in writing, with nothing vague left in the corners.

4. The build

   Machined, finished and assembled at the bench in Jyväskylä. You hear from us while it happens — this is your watch being made, not stock being finished.

5. One of one

   The watch is delivered — and its design is retired.

What can change — and how far it goes

Everything you can see is open: the case and its proportions, the finish on every surface, the dial and what it is made of, the weave itself, the hands, the crystal, the back, the markings. If it can be made the hard way, it can be discussed.

And it goes further than most people expect. Our series watches are built on a proven Swiss calibre, rebuilt and refinished here — the right choice for a watch made in numbers. A Pièce Unique is not made in numbers. If you want the parts cut from raw material, down to the movement itself, say so: we are ready to go there. It is the slowest and most expensive road there is, and it is the one that puts the most of us into the object. That is the entire argument of this house — the harder a thing was to make, the more of your life it can carry.

If something cannot be made well, we say so before you have spent anything — and we tell you what the hardest version costs, in time and in money. That answer is part of the work.

On price

A watch that does not yet exist cannot have a price list. The price is set with the final design — and it is substantially above our series watches, for one reason: a series shares its design work across many watches. A Pièce Unique shares nothing. Every hour belongs to one watch and one owner.

And if the numbers place a pièce unique out of reach, there is no shame in that whatsoever — it is exactly why our series watches exist: the same hands, the same hard way, shared across a series so the price can be shared too.

Everything we make is built in one workshop, so pièce unique commissions are accepted rarely, and one at a time.
